WELLINGTON'S assistant player-manager Jack Porter admits they may have to field 'an inexperienced side' for today's (Sat) game away to Helston in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League.

"Our plans have been disrupted somewhat by having two friendlies postponed, including the game at Bishop Sutton last weekend," he said. "We had been hoping to sign on players at Bishop Sutton.

"We've also been looking to sign another goalkeeper because Shay Allen, who has rejoined us, is on holiday for a fortnight. We knew this before we signed him."

Richard Cherry takes charge of the side at Helston, having taken over from joint managers Tim Legg, who will be playing for Chard Town this season, and Alex Pope who has joined Southern League Tiverton Town as head coach.

Wellington finished 15th in the Premier Division last season, nine places below tomorrow's opponents Helston.

Wellington have another away game on Tuesday when they play Shepton Mallet who ended eighth last winter.

Meanwhile Wellington Reserves, with defender Mark Owen in charge, play their first warm-up game at Elmore - also this afternoon., Owen says he will be parading one or two new faces, plus 29-year-old striker Alfie Barrett who has just come back to live in this country from Australia. Wellington will again be playing in the first division of the Devon & Exeter League, having just missed out on promotion.

Wellington A, who have dropped down into the first division in the Taunton Saturday League, also have their first pre-season friendly today - at Tor.

Manager Warren Toth hopes to include 'one or two of the Under 18s.'
