WELLINGTON suffered their first defeat under new manager Richard Cherry when they went down 2-0 away to Shepton Mallet in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League last night (Tues).

Both goals were scored in the first half. Josh Jenkins put Shepton ahead in the 20th minute and Harry Rutty netted again in the 35th minute.

Wellington were 2-0 down at half time at Helston last Saturday but hit back to draw 2-2, but there was no such fightback at Shepton.

Wellington's next game is an extra preliminary round tie in the FA Cup against Bideford on Saturday, which will be played at Willand (3p.m.).

Wellington were drawn at home but cannot play on the Playing Field until next month because the ground is being used by the local cricket club.
