LEADERS Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood are 31 points clear of second-placed Fitzhead Seconds following a three-wicket victory at third bottom Stoke Mary Seconds.

The hosts chose to bat and soon found themselves at 14-3 with the Everys – Paul and Ian – doing the damage.

Andy Desborough (21) and Scott Broadhurst rebuilt the innings with a stand of 58 before Broadhurst was joined by Gregg Rayson to add a further 67.

Despite reaching 139-4, that soon became 140-6, but Rayson’s 67 which included 10 fours and three sixes, helped them post 180-7.

Paul Every was the pick of the bowlers with 3-26 from his nine, while Ian Every and Tom Stead both took 1-17 from six.

In reply, Roger Kallaway (33) and Ian Every (30) added 68 for the first wicket, but after they both departed it became 113-5 as James Brigers (2-33) and Adrian Sproston went to work.

Sproston took two more on his way to figures of 4-34 from his seven, but the home side got over the line with Chris Corfield unbeaten on 21.

Third-placed Wiveliscombe Seconds ran out comfortable nine-wicket winners at their East Huntspill counterparts.

Warren Heyns was the pick of the bowlers with 3-17 from his nine overs and with change bowlers Josh Fyfe (2-18 off 8) and Jack Warren (2-17) providing fine support the home side were dismissed for just 140 in 39.2 overs.

Wiveliscombe were home and hosed in just 21.5 overs.

Fyfe went to the first ball of the reply, caught at mid-wicket by George Tier off Lee Waldock, but that was as good as it got for East Huntspill as Warren and Stuart Denyer put on an unbroken stand of 142.

Warren was 59 not out (10 fours, one six) while Denyer was unbeaten on 68 with 12 fours and a maximum.
