MINEHEAD 3rd XI have a 59-point lead at the top of the third division in the West Somerset Cricket League after being handed the points by no-show Ashbrittle 2nd XI.

Fitzhead 2nd XI also failed to fulfil their home fixture against Buckland St Mary & Bishopswood who are in second spot following this cancellation.

Carhampton are up to third place, four points behind Buckland, after they beat Wiveliscombe by 192 runs with opener Sam Price being their star batter with 117, which included 13 fours and six sixes. Thomas Lorimer took 3-41. Josh Fyfe made 29 and Nathan Pincombe 25 as Wivey were bowled out for 107 with Nick Winzer taking 4-26 and Jack Miton 3-26.

In the only other match played in the division, Over Stowey went down by six wickets to Stoodleigh. Stowey scored 131 all out with Harley Rich knocking 34 and Sam Bowker snapping up 5-51, Stoodleigh recovered from a poor start to win with Anthony Vigus scoring 43 and Bing Torrance 43 not out.

Brompton Ralph’s second string have a three-point lead at the top of Division Four after they beat previous leaders Roadwater by 69 runs in a low-scoring game. Brompton were bowled out for 121 with Z Whitaker scoring 24 and S Ruell 20. S Aspey took 3-30.

Roadwater had no answer to the bowling of Whitaker who took 6-7 in a ruthless six-over spell with only two batters making double figures.

East Huntspill crashed to 61 all out against Spaxton with Kian Hayman taking 4-20 and Ross Brown 3-13.
