IN this shortened season of seven games within the West of England Premier League’s Playing Bubble C, Wellington suffered a complete washout as their visit to Taunton CC, who they would have faced ordinarily in the Somerset Division in 2020, was undertaken, but quickly resulted in a return home as heavy rain left puddles all over the outfield, writes David Derrick.

Wellington have now had two of their four scheduled games called off because of bad weather.

Arron Campbell’s team take one point from the cancellation and will travel to face Premier One side Taunton Deane CC tomorrow (Sat 12.30pm start) in the fifth game of this series before a visit from Taunton St Andrews and a visit to Weston Super Mare to complete matters - they both play in the Premier Two Bristol and Somerset Division.

Meanwhile Wellington 2nd XI’s scheduled home game with Taunton 3rd XI, whose level of play in 2020 was to be Division Seven South in the Somerset League’s Playing Bubble XI, was also a victim of the rain and wind last Saturday following the heatwave earlier in the week.

Alex Troake’s team take 12 points from the fixture and will host Stoke St Gregory, from Division Eight South, tomorrow in their fifth game of seven with a visit to Broadway and Horton 2nd XI which is followed by a home fixture against Ilminster 4th XI.
