BOTH the Somerset Pathway Under 16 and Under 18 girls teams are enjoying success in the ECB competitions this season and have put together a number of good results.

In the ECB Vitality Girls Under 16 T20 Somerset enjoyed a double success over Gloucestershire when the two sides met at Downside School. In the opening match after being asked to bat first, the visitors posted 129 for 7 from their allotted overs, Grace Findlay taking 2 for 15 and Jessica Slade 2 for 26.

When Somerset replied after finding themselves 32 for 2 Emily Dummett and Isabel Glyn Jones came together and added 61 when the latter was out for 41 which she blasted off 19 balls with 9 fours.

Emily remained at the wicket and along with Lucy Delaney saw Somerset to a seven-wicket victory in the 16th over, the former ending unbeaten on 32 while Lucy was not out 5.

In the second game Gloucestershire chose to bat and made 126 all out off the penultimate ball, Matilda Parfitt claiming 3 for 12 off 2.5 overs, while Grace Findlay took 2 for 11 and Jeanette Childs 2 for 12.

The Somerset reply was built upon a third wicket partnership of 65 between Lucy Delaney who made 43 and Emily Dummett who hit 28 as they reached 129 for four with three balls to spare.

In the ECB Vitality Girls Under 18 T20 Somerset enjoyed success in both the games that they played against Worcestershire. In the first match after opting to bat Worcestershire made 102 for 6, Sophie Pickering ending with the impressive figures on 4 for 12 off 4 overs, one of which was a maiden.

Somerset made light work of their target and reached 112 for 4 in 14 overs - thanks to Emma Mason who made 33 and added 43 for the second wicket with Leila Moledina, who then shared an unbroken partnership of 36 for the fifth wicket with Lilly Blackwell, who ended unbeaten on 24 while Leila remained not out 29.

Second time round Somerset won the toss and batting first posted 198 for 2, which included 64 retired not out from Charlotte Webber that came off 34 balls with 10 fours and 47 from Emma Mason who also retired not out , her runs coming off 29 deliveries with seven 4s after which Leila Moldedina ended unbeaten on 28 and Mila Brooke 12 not out.

Worcestershire in reply reached 119 for 4, Sophie Pickering taking 2 for 15.

In the last 16 of the ECB Girls Under 18 County Cup against Hampshire at Taunton Cricket Club, after choosing to bat first Somerset were all out for 175 in 43.2 overs of which Leila Moledina contributed 69 which she scored off 118 deliveries with 5 fours.

Coming to the wicket with the score on 13 for one in the third over Leila remained at the crease, sharing a third wicket stand of 36 with Isobel-Glyn Jones (17), 39 for the seventh with Lucy Ashman (16) and put on 35 for the last wicket with Poppy Hawker who remained one not out off 29 balls before she was out.

When Hampshire replied Verity Clark claimed two early wickets as the visitors slipped to 48 for 4 before a partnership of 104 saw Hampshire to 176 for 6 in the 39th over to win by four wickets. Verity Clark ended with 3 for 44 from 10 overs.
