THE 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup gets underway on Friday (July 24) when Somerset men host their Gloucestershire counterparts at the Cooper Associates County Ground (starting at 2pm.).
Somerset have enjoyed considerable success in the 50 over competition, reaching the final in 2024 and the semi finals last summer.
To coincide with each of the 50 over matches, Somerset will be hosting themed events, so as well as the cricketing action on the field, there will be plenty of other things for people who attend the matches to enjoy!
The ever-popular annual Beer & Cider Festival returns in 2026 and this year’s event will take place during the Gloucestershire game.
Somerset will be hosting their Family Day event at the Metro Bank One Day Cup clash with Warwickshire on Sunday, July 26th. The 2026 Family Day will feature over 30 Free Kids activities, Live cricket action, delicious food stalls, games, giveaways and much much more and all of the attractions will be hosted within Somerset’s safe and secure fan village on the day.
Last year’s Family Day match sold out, so make sure you put the date in your diary now!
The Somerset Introducing Music Festival will return this summer. Building on the success of last year’s event, this year’s Somerset Introducing will take place during the clash against Surrey on August 7th. This year’s headliners will be Supersonic Queen; the UK’s most dynamic Queen tribute.
The festival line up will also feature some outstanding local music acts who will be performing throughout the day, so make sure that you don’t miss out on this brilliant celebration of both live elite sport and live music!
Following on from the Beer & Cider fixture, the Family Fun Day fixture and the Somerset Introducing Music Festival fixture, the fourth and final Metro Bank One Day Cup group stage match day will see Somerset take on Lancashire in the #YouAreSomerset match on Tuesday 11th August.
Somerset and Lancashire is a List A rivalry that dates back to 1966 when the two teams first met in a limited overs match.
Since that date, some of the greatest players to grace the game have taken part in the fixture. The likes of Ian Botham, Viv Richards, Joel Garner, Marcus Trescothick and Andrew Caddick have all faced the Red Rose county greats like Michael Atherton, Jimmy Anderson and Andrew Flintoff over the years and this summer will see what the Class of 2026 have to offer.
Somerset will be looking for revenge after the two sides met at Taunton in the Metro Bank One Day Cup last summer. The team from Old Trafford came out on top by just two wickets in a tightly fought clash despite half centuries from Lewis Goldsworthy, Archie Vaughan and Fin Hill..
