WELLINGTON Bowling Club's A team entertained Ilminster B in the West Somerset Bowls League - and the result was a good victory for the home side by 55 shots to 43 and a two out of three rinks win overall.

Darren Sparks, Jay Merrell and Mike Groves were on top form for Wellington and although the Ilminster side did their best they went down 28 – 10.

On the next rink, Nick Channon, Gill Groves and Phil Ellis had a close battle on their hands. With one end to play they were 12 – 13 down but the Wellington trio pinched it with two shots in the last end, 14 – 13.

Graham Brown, Paul Kelly and Julian Street also enjoyed a very close battle. With only three to play they were 16 – 13 down but the Ilminster side kept their lead to win 20 – 13.

Despite this, Wellington were the overall winners.
