THE ladies of Wellington Bowling Club are through to the next round of the Fear Cup - the Somerset inter-club competition - after their three teams beat Burnham on Sea at home by 25 shots.

It was a much closer game than the scoreline would suggest with Wellington winning on two of the three rinks.

Liz May, Di Dagg, June Anderson and Lynda Manning were in a close battle. With two ends to play they were leading 12 - 10 but the Burnham side picked up a 2 followed by a huge 7 to pinch it 19 – 12.

Janet Lovell, Ann Cowling, Angie Moore and Gill Groves also had a closely fought game but they won it by 4 shots, 16 – 12.

The overall result depended on the last rink and Janet Moore, Wendy Scott, Shirley Samuel and Chrissie Willcocks did not disappoint. They won in style 33 – 5 to give Wellington a well deserved 61-36 victory.

They will play Bridgwater in the next round.
