DUE to a 'perfect storm' of general availability, injuries and summer holidays across the club as a whole, unfortunately Wellington CC was unable to put together more than six or seven players to fulfil a match in Somerset League Division Seven South.

And with other fixtures deemed more senior had to concede a home match with Mass CC's 2nd XI at Sampford Arundel CC over the weekend, writes David Derrick.

Having to concede eliminated any points scoring capacity in the run to attempt to achieve runners up spot in the division, so it will be a visit to a dominant Trull 2nd XI on Saturday, 29th August to complete the 2026 season which, all told and despite this unwanted situation, has been a relative success.

It has seen the introduction of several youth section players into senior cricket and new members to the club have started this journey at this level.
