WELLINGTON Under 15s were narrowly squeezed out of the early county based rounds of the ECB National Cup when their Taunton counterparts won by six wickets at Wellington School, writes David Derrick.
Wellington opted to bat first with Jack H opening up with 17 which contained three fours. For Wellington, Sam T and Clemmie L-T, with excellent knocks of 26 and 21, moved the Red and Blacks score forward to see that their side end on 94-5 in their 20 overs. For Taunton Alba D with 3-18 in four overs was their best performer with the ball.
A powerful knock of 39no from Lewis W and a supporting effort of 16 from Max M got Taunton going nicely, but for Wellington, Bobby S with 3-29 kept his side in the game.
Taunton won the game with just under four overs to spare and will move forward, but not without a question or two having been asked of them by Wellington.
