WELLINGTON A are off the mark at last in the Premier Division of the Taunton & District Saturday Football League.

After losing their first ten matches, they came good against title-chasing Galmington on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School, winning 7-4 after the sides were locked at 1-1 at half time.

Ben Evett was the star of the show, scoring four times, with the other goals coming from Luke Perry, Jordan Sellick and Matt Brereton.

“It was very much a game of two halves,” said Wellington’s manager Warren Toth. “We played against the wind in the first half and we kept our shape, playing really well.

“We used the wind to our advantage in the second half. And of course it was great to win our first match of the season.”

However, the Wellington side, strengthened by the inclusion of three reserve team players, remain bottom of the table, with no points from 11 matches, having had three points deducted.
