WELLINGTON Reserves gained a 1-0 home win over Clyst Valley in the Premier Division of the Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter Football League at the Carly Press Ground.

Playing before a big crowd, Wellington battled hard to take the points - thanks to the only goal of the game from Player of the Match Jack Bryant who was presented with his award by club stalwart Reg Oxby.

However, Wellington A are still without a point in the Premier Division of the Taunton & District Saturday League after they went down 8-2 away to Galmington who scored seven of their goals in the second half after leading 1-0 at the interval.

Jordan Sellick and Dillon Owens scored for Wellington who now have a goal deficit of 18.

Galmington are now the new leaders of the Premier Division on goal difference from Bridgwater Grasshoppers and Wembdon.

Meanwhile, Wellington first team’s home game against Street in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League on Saturday, October 25, has been postponed.

This is because Street’s FA Vase tie against Shortwood last weekend was abandoned because of a serious injury and it will now be ‘replayed’ this coming weekend, leaving Wellington without a league match.

Wellington Reserves, who are lying in mid-table in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League, play away to sixth-placed Colyton who have a record of won three, drawn one and lost three.

Upottery have a four-point lead at the top of the table but second-placed Winkley are still 100 per cent - and have three crucial games in hand on their rivals.

Wellington A will be looking to end their lean spell when they play at home to Porlock who have won two and lost three of their opening five matches in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League.
