THERE are ten more games for every team to play in the Weekend League at Wellington Bowling Club. The second half of the season has just begun and every team is trying hard to become 2025/26 weekend league champions.

Table-topping Southsiders enjoyed a big win against second placed Skylarks. Woodpeckers moved up from third place after a victory over the Ninchers and the New Rollers lost out to a strong Allstars side.

Allstars and New Rollers were level on points in the league table coming into their game, so it was all to play for to see which team would be higher than the other in the table.

Maria Mitchell, Paul Mitchell and skip Martin Speakman's New Rollers began well. They picked up three shots in the first end but after a short time the teams were level and Suzanne Worth, Ron Elston and skip Barry Cutler's Allstars settled to their task and powered ahead to win it in style 18 – 7.

Bowler of the match was Allstars' Suzanne Worth who bowled consistently well. She was very ably supported by team-mates Ron Elston and Barry Cutler.

In the next match, Arthur Carter, Ian Stewart and skip Monica Carter's Skylarks could not get going from the start of their game. Pauline Wadham, Andrew Pearce and skip Steve Horrill's table-topping Southsiders didn't give away a single shot until the 8th end.

Skylarks picked up the pace and won three of the last five ends but it was too little too late by then and Southies won it comfortably 15 – 5.

In the last game, Ray White, Vera White and Martyn Beed's Ninchers had a difficult time. Janet Lovell, Nick Channon and skip Steve Lovell's Woodpeckers were too strong on the day, winning by a big margin 25 – 3.
