WELLINGTON go into their big semi-final at home to Barnstaple Town in the Les Phillips Cup on Saturday, February 28, having not played in a Jewson Western League match this year (3p.m.).
Wellington's only games in 2026 have been in the Les Phillips Cup where they despatched Shepton Mallet (2-1 at home) and Cheddar (4-0 away).
Their last league game was way back on Boxing Day when they lost 4-2 at home - to Barnstaple!
Since then they have suffered a number of postponements because of the bad weather, the latest being at home to Brislington on Saturday, February 21, which failed an early morning pitch inspection.
Wellington were due to play at home to Street in the Premier Division of the Jewson League on Wednesday, February 25, but this game has been moved to Saturday, April 11.
The postponement of Saturday's game against Brislington left Wellington lying 16th in the Premier Division but with games in hand on teams around them. However, the gap between Wellington and 15th placed St Blazey is ten points.
Clevedon Town moved back to the top of the table after they gained a 4-0 home victory over Saltash United, while Barnstaple moved up to fifth after they gained a fine 2-0 away victory over Bradford Town.
Barnstaple have lost only four of their 21 league matches this season and have games in hand on all the teams above them. Only Oldland Abbotonians have played fewer games than Wellington.
Wellington are due to play away to Ivybridge Town in a league game next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Wellington Reserves found themselves without a fixture last Saturday when their game away to Exeter University Reserves in the Premier Division of the Devon & Exeter League was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
