WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones says he plans to “address the situation” after having six players sent off this season.

The latest to be given his marching orders is skipper Sam Bryant who picked up two yellow cards in the 2-0 loss against Willand Rovers in the Les Phillips Cup last Wednesday.

And Josh Wadham, a classy midfield player who joined Wellington from champions Street during the summer, has started a six-match ban after being sent off against Clevedon Town for an off-the-ball incident 11 days ago.

“There is no excuse for these sending offs although I do have some sympathy for Sam,” said Jones. “He picked up a yellow right at the end against Willand with a mis-timed tackle.

“We’re not a dirty side, far from it, and we get no pleasure in playing with ten men. I have to address the situation for the sake of the club.

“Josh is very disappointed with his six-game ban but was with us for Saturday’s game at Hengrove and will continue to train during his spell out.”

Meanwhile, Jones was not a happy bunny after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Hengrove in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League. “It was unacceptable,” he added. “I don’t know why we play well at home but not away.

“When at home we play with style and entertain. But away we let ourselves down and I can’t put my figure on it. It must be a mental thing.”

Wellington will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they play at home to Chipping Sodbury Town who are below them in the table. Three players will miss the game through suspension - Wadham, Sam Bryant and Joe Chamberlain.

Wellington Reserves, bottom of Division One in the Devon and Exeter League, are away to Bampton while Hemyock play away to title-favourites Elmore Reserves in the fourth division.
