WELLINGTON 2
WELLS CITY 2
WELLINGTON eased their relegation worries with this drab draw against lowly Wells in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League last Saturday.
But after leading 2-0 in the second half they will feel this was two points dropped rather than a crucial point gained.
Wellington boss Clive Jones described his side’s display as the ‘worst’ since he took over as manager.
“I know we had a few players out but this is no excuse,” he said afterwards.
Jack Porter gave Wellington the lead after seven minutes when he slotted home on the far post.
He was on target again ten minutes into the second half when he turned in a cross by Jack Bryant after a good move by Wellington.
However things went downhill for Wellington after this and Darren Maynard pulled a goal back midway through the second half after latching onto a long ball.
And Jamie Johnson snapped up a second for City with a superb shot seven minutes from the end.
Wellington: Welch, Hawkings, Porter, Legg, Ellis, Drayton, Bryant J, Towler, Clough, Pengelly, Woodgate. Substitutes: Bellinger, Borges (both used), Jones (not used).
