WELLINGTON’S unbeaten home record stretching back 18 months will be at stake when they play Paignton in Western Counties West at the Athletic Ground on Saturday (3 p.m.).

St Ives were the last side to win at Wellington on April 1, 2017, beating the home side emphatically 48-5.

Wellington went through last season winning all their home games and finished champions of the Cornwall and Devon League.

Now back in Western Counties West, Wellington have begun the season with home wins over Chard and Falmouth.

Wellington have won three of their four matches and are lying third, four points behind early leaders Sidmouth.

In their latest fixture on Saturday they beat Kingsbridge 14-10 away which was described as a "really good win" by coach Allyn Chetland.

He said: "Kingsbridge is not the easiest of places to go and win. The conditions were not good but we still managed to play some good rugby. Our second try was particularly impressive."

Wellington, however, lost both props Jack Richards and Jason Hancock with injuries and they are doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Falmouth are lying ninth, having won one of their four games while drawing another. Their only win came on Saturday when they beat Wadebridge Camels 12-0 at home.

Wellington 2nd XV return to action after an enforced two-week break when they play at home to their Bridgwater and Albion counterparts in Somerset One.

Wiveliscombe will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season when they play at home to Imperial in Somerset Premier.

Wiveliscombe are the only unbeaten side in the division and are lying second, two points behind leaders Avon.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are home to Weston super Mare in Somerset Two South.
