CLIVE Jones is to remain as manager of Toolstation League premier division club Wellington.

He ended speculation about his future over the weekend when he told me: “I am staying for lots of reasons.

“We have had a terrible time since Christmas and I will not be beaten. I don’t want to be remembered for how we did this season.”

But Jones, in his fourth season with the club, has warned there will be a ‘massive shake-up’ during the summer.

“I made up my mind last week that I would be staying. The problem we’ve been having for some time is that we are not creating many chances.

“It’s no good going out getting a goalscorer when you don’t create good opportunities.

“I have had a lot of kind words from people who have told me they don’t want me to go. But it is the first time in a season when I have doubted my own ability.

“I shall be working very hard in the summer to get things right - as it should be.”
