THREE players – Glen Wright, Jack Bryant and Jordan Sellick – were double award winners as Wellington AFC held end-of-season presentations for their men’s sides over the past weekend.
Chairman Mike Hall welcomed everyone to the evening and said it had been another successful season for the club.
He also thanked everyone who had contributed to that success – both on and off the pitch.
Awards were presented for the first team, Reserves and A team with each of the managers – Richard Cherry, Mark Owen and Warren Toth – giving a summary of their side’s campaign and thanking their various helpers. There were also presentations to a number of the club’s coaches and volunteer helpers.
Wellington’s other senior side, the Wildcats Ladies, are holding their awards night on Saturday, June 13, while presentation evenings are under way for the boys’ and girls’ sides, which will be continuing into June.
SPECIAL AWARDS: Young player of the year (Keith Davey Cup) – Harry Chetland; 300 games for first team – Glen Wright. Thank-you award – Warren Toth (stepping down as A team manager).
FIRST TEAM: Leading scorer (Jeff Fleet Cup) – Josh Baker and James De Selincourt; Players’ player (Selwyn Aspin Memorial Cup) – Glen Wright; Manager’s player (Doug Northam Cup) – Oscar Albano and Andy Collings; Supporters’ player (Chairman’s Cup) – Mark Cornish.
RESERVES: Leading scorer – Jack Bryant; Players’ player (John Stevens Cup) – Sam Bryan; Manager’s player (Lloyd Manning Memorial Cup) – Jack Bryant.
A TEAM: Leading scorer – Jordan Sellick; Players’ player (Neil Jenkins Trophy) – Jordan Sellick; Manager’s player (Roger Nunn Cup) – Tyler Fyfe.
*Wellington AFC, a three-star FA Accredited club, have come to the end of another memorable season in which they have provided football for hundreds of men, women, boys and girls.
It has also been a year of progress off the field, with much work having gone into improving their facilities at the Carly Press Ground, including new floodlights.
