THE annual meeting of Wellington AFC takes place in the clubhouse on Wednesday, June 18, starting at 8pm.
The club enjoyed a successful 2024-25 season including the first team recording their highest points tally in the premier division of the Jewson Western League since 2008-09.
Meanwhile, the Reserves made history by finishing second in the premier division of the Stitch2Print Devon & Exeter League, the highest ever position by a club from Somerset.
Off the pitch, Wellington are continuing to improve their facilities at the Playing Field. They recently erected a new spectator stand which helped the club meet Step 5 FA status to carry on playing at their current level. Later this summer, they are erecting new LED floodlights, along with a new perimeter fence around the pitch.
“The LED lights will be more energy efficient and will avoid the club having to remove four of the existing pylons every summer to allow cricket to be played on the Playing Field,” says chairman Mike Hall.
The club made a decision not long ago to keep playing on its main pitch at the Playing Field. It had hoped to move to a new ground at Longforth Farm but the project was scuppered by spiralling costs.
Instead it looked at its current base to see what could be done ‘to move things forward.’
Meanwhile, Wellington are currently looking to appoint a sport therapist for the new season and anyone interested is asked to email [email protected].
