WELLINGTON Town maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in Division Two of the Under 16 section in the Taunton Youth Football League with a 4-0 away victory over Watchet Town Red and Blacks.

Town dominated the play early on with chances coming close in the first 10 mins - a strike on target from Jack B expertly denied by the keeper and another strike from Doug K just tipping over the goal.

Town’s persistence and determination was rewarded on 22 minutes following a handball from the home team, a freekick taken from Oscar A, fired past the Watchet players to find the back of the net.

Eight minutes later a replica of the earlier handball incident occurred, Oscar A stepped up for another free kick, taking it quickly he was able to again find the back of the net, taking Town to a 2-0 lead at half time.

Town came out in the 2nd half motivated to continue the dominance of the first half. Within a minute of the whistle a perfectly executed goal kick from Oscar A found Gbuyi O, who whipped up through the pitch, round several defenders and following a one on one with the goal keeper slotted home the visitors’ third goal.

Another chance from Gbuyi O narrowly missed the post on the 54th minute.

Town kept battling and were finally rewarded when a measured pass from Jack B to the centre midfield was fired home by Matt T, sealing a well deserved 4-0 win for Town. Player of the Match was awarded to Oscar A for his solid performance and contributions to the final result.

Wellington now face Middlezoy Rovers Harriers on Sunday, October 18, in what will be their first home game of the season (Playing Field 2.30p.m.). Harriers have won two of their three matches.
