JOHN Sellick, 50, has stepped down as manager of Wellington Ladies, who play in Division One of the Somerset Women’s Football League.
Sellick, who will remain head coach of Wellington Wildcats and will continue to run the Under 14s, said: “I have realised during lockdown that I have not been seeing my family as much as I should do.
“The Wildcats have 100 girls on their books and that takes up an enormous amount of time.
“The long-term future of women’s football within the club is very good and I want to concentrate more on the girls side of things. We also have a development team with players starting as young as five.”
Sellick, who has been in charge of Wellington Ladies for two seasons, added: “The club run an enormous number of teams. In fact, many more than most clubs in Somerset, and this takes a lot of organising.
“Fortunately, we have managers in place for all six of the Wildcats’ sides, which also takes the pressure off me.
“We have teams at Under ten level right through to Under 15s who play in the Somerset Girls League and are always on the look-out for new players, as are Wellington Ladies, who play on Sundays.
“The Ladies had a tough time of things last season but long-term their future is bright.”
