WELLINGTON went into this week’s round of matches two points behind Toolstation League first division leaders Keynsham Town with a game in hand, writes Barry Knott.

But that deficit could extend to five points because Keynsham were due to play at Radstock last night.

Wellington have no midweek game and play their next match on Saturday when they play visit Oldland Abbotonians who are currently seventh in the table, just one place below Bishops Lydeard who are enjoying some good results in their first season in the division. They won 4-1 at Devizes on Saturday.

Wellington have re-signed midfielder Sam Towler who has played for both Bridgwater Town and Street this season. He came on for the final 20 minutes in the 2-0 home victory over Roman Glass St George at the weekend.

Wellington manager Clive Jones needed to strengthen his first team squad because Sam Bryant and Ollie Nott have long term injuries.

Wellington Reserves, slammed 8-1 away by leaders Cronies in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League, will be looking to bounce back with they play at home to Sidmouth Town Reserves.

Hemyock, who lost their unbeaten record 1-0 away to Elmore over the weekend, have no game while table-toppers Wellington Thirds are home to Ilminster Town Reserves in Division Seven.
