WELLINGTON will be hoping that two of their most influential players Tim Legg and Luke Redrup will be fit to play in tonight’s (Wed) home game against Ashton and Backwell in Division One of the Toolstation League (7.45).
Both failed late fitness tests before Saturday’s home game against Oldland Abbotonians which ended in a 1-1 draw.
They were eventually named as substitutes but manager Clive Jones decided not to risk them.
“It would not have been worth it,” said Jones. “I want both players fit again as soon as possible and if that means leaving them for a few more days that’s fine with me. I had to change my formation for Saturday when they dropped out.
“I had it all planned out until they both struggled in a fitness test before the game.”
Jones rates Ashton as one of the best in the league and has tipped them for the title.
“We’re expecting a tough game and hopefully Tim and Luke will be fit,” he added.
Wellington have another match on Saturday when they play away to Warminster Town who are lying fifth from bottom in the division but have games in hand on all the teams around them.
Wellington are tenth but they could move up the table quite considerably if they could put a run together. Corsham, who are fourth, are only nine points ahead of them but have played four more games.
Wellington Reserves are home to University 2nds who have not lost a game in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League this season.
Hemyock are home to Chumleigh in the second division while Wellington Thirds entertain tenth-placed Langdon Reserves in Division Seven.
