WELLINGTON have signed 25-year-old holding midfielder George Rogers ‘on loan’ from Evo-Stik Southern League club Tiverton Town.

Rogers, who has also played for Taunton Town, is the son of Martyn Rogers, who is in his second spell as manager of Tiverton.

"I know Martyn well and he has a strong squad at the moment," said Wellington manager Clive Jones. "George wants to play more regularly and I think this is an arrangement which will suit us both.

"George played for me when I was at Willand and he is a good player."

Rogers jnr goes straight into Wellington’s squad for tonight’s (Wed) Toolstation League first division game at Calne who are seventh in the table.

"It’s going to be a hard match," added Jones whose side have not played since Wellington won 2-1 at Radstock early in the month.

The only doubt for Wellington is Sam Bryant who picked up an injury while playing for Willand Rovers Under 18s who are also managed by Jones. Wellington, whose game at Devizes on Saturday was postponed because the pitch was unfit, also play at home to Wells City on Saturday (3.00). City are one place below Calne in the table.

Wellington Reserves, who have not played a game this year, are away to fifth placed Upottery in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday. Upottery have lost only once this season.

The Reserves were due to play at home to Budleigh Salterton on Saturday but the Playing Field pitch was deemed unplayable.

Hemyock, who are also struggling to play matches because of the bad weather, are home to Tipton St John who are just below them in Division Two while Wellington Thirds are away to top of the table Central in Division Seven.

The team to watch out for in this division are third placed Tivvy Park Rangers who are unbeaten and have games in hand on all the top teams around them.
