A GROUP of Wellington AFC youth players have enjoyed another unforgettable trip to play at a Premier League ground.

Wellington Wanderers U14s made the trip up the M5 to show off their skills at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC.

Manager Seb Coe said: “We took 26 players to take in the experience of playing on another top ground after previously competing at Wolves and Crystal Palace.

“Chelsea was a whole new level and the atmosphere and standard of football was incredible.

“JPL and academy sides from across the country attended and it was a great day of competitive football against some really tough teams.

“Our two sides did very well – one of them winning one, drawing one and losing two.

“The other side managed to get to the Plate final which we won 2-0. Playing four, winning three and lost just one to the overall winners was a fantastic achievement and started some wild celebrations.

“The best news and a great opportunity came from coach of the side which beat us, who works Chelsea.

“He said he would like us to go back and play a game at Chelsea’s training ground to have a good look at some of our players.

“We will also have a tour of facilities and get to chat with any pros who didn’t make the World Cup.”

Seb added: “This team are going from strength to strength, and we will keep pushing them forward and opening up opportunities for our players.

“We are currently training on Wednesdays, 6-7, at Court Fields 3G – all welcome come and try out. We have Saturday and Sunday teams, offering plenty of opportunities to play league football next season.

“We are in lots of summer tournaments and have friendly matches booked in as well so still lots of football available – please come along and have a go with a great bunch of lads.”
