THE Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League closed another successful season with a well-attended and lively Presentation Evening at Wellington Football Club on Friday evening.

As well as celebrating the achievements of players and teams throughout the 2025/26 campaign, the league once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting good causes by donating a total of £1,000 to charity.

A donation of £500 was presented to Best Before Food Store, with Bob House collecting the cheque on behalf of the organisation. The money will be used to provide hygiene products to members, supporting a valuable local service that continues to make a real difference within the community.

The league also donated £500 to Diabetes UK. In a note thanking the league for its support, the charity explained that the donation could help fund specialist AI training to assist researchers in examining images of the pancreas to better understand the causes of Type 1 diabetes, pay for seven rounds of genetic analysis to support investigations into the genetic factors behind Type 2 diabetes, or help 33 newly diagnosed people access tailored support and advice through the charity's online Learning Zone.

The evening also featured the annual Graham Jennings Shield triples competition, with £100 prize money on offer to the winners. After a competitive contest, the Reservists trio of Darren Sparks, Kevin Sedgebeer and Glen Escott emerged victorious, defeating the Scuppas team of John Barker, Roger Howe and Craig Newstead to lift the trophy and claim the top prize.

The presentation ceremony then recognised the season's champions, cup winners and individual award recipients. Among the biggest successes of the campaign were Ex-Servicemen, who completed a superb season by winning the WESSL Championship, Chris Bullock Championship and HWH Payne Challenge Cup, losing just once all season.
