WELLINGTON Bowling Club's A, B and C triples teams had mixed fortunes this week. The A team ran into trouble at home against a strong North Petherton A but Wellington's B team were in fine form and won against Bridwater's Victoryia Park A, writes Martin Speakman.
The C team drove to Burnham-on-Sea and put up a good fight but lost in the end.
Pete Nichols, Darren Sparks and Jay Merrell's A team side were leading 16 – 15 with one to play but the North Petherton trio made it a draw, 16 shots each.
Graham Brown, Paul Kelly and Julian Street got off to a slow start. They came back well later on but lost in the end 17 – 23.
Peter Barlow, Nick Channon and Phil Ellis were level after 4 ends but the Petherton side were too strong on the day, winning 22 – 9.
The overall score was 61 – 42 to North Petherton.
The B team was also at home and Peter White, Mark Bond and David Beaudet came back from 13 – 9 down early on to win by 3 shots, 20 – 17.
Barry Cutler, Henry Richbell and Christine Willcocks did all they could but lost by 7 shots, 20 – 13.
June Anderson, Alan May and Ian Hollingsworth were on top form and carried the day for Wellington with a comfortable 20 – 12 victory.
Wellington were the overall winners by 53 shots to 49.
Ron Elston, Angie Moore and Andrew Baird's C team put up a good fight but lost in the end, 16 – 19.
Tony Weston, Allan Samuel and Lynda Manning came close but lost, 19 – 13 and Andrew Copping, Shirley Samuel and Ken Brown lost 24 – 9.
The overall score was a win to Burnham by 56 shots to 44.
