WELLINGTON Wanderers produced an excellent all-round performance to secure a deserved 2–0 home victory over Bridgwater Wolves Youth Wolf Pack in Division One of the Under 12 section in the HO Soccer Taunton & District Youth Football League.
From the first whistle, the young Tangerines were firmly in control, showing real composure, confidence and purpose throughout the game. The team moved the ball around intelligently, combining clever, simple passing with some excellent forward through balls whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Wellington created plenty of problems for the Wolf Pack defence and could easily have added more goals to the scoreline. The opposition goalkeeper, in particular, had an outstanding afternoon, producing six fantastic saves to keep his side in the contest.
However, even his impressive performance could not prevent Wellington from finding a way through, with Rex B and Harry G both getting on the scoresheet to secure the 2–0 victory.
What was particularly pleasing was the collective effort from every player. There are no individual mentions because this was all about the team. Every player contributed, worked hard for one another and played their part in a thoroughly deserved win.
It was a really polished performance, demonstrating just how well this group can play when they work together, move the ball with confidence and trust one another.
A big thank you goes to all the parents who helped out again, running the line, packing away the respect barrier and collecting stray balls. Your support makes a huge difference and is always appreciated.
Finally, a massive thank you to Roadchef for sponsoring the team’s playing shirts and continuing to support the young Tangerines throughout the season.
Wanderers are now the early leaders of the division but second-placed Galmington Dragon Raiders are only a point behind with two crucial games in hand.
