WELLINGTON’S fight to stay in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League is virtually over following their 70-run defeat away to relegation rivals Chard over the weekend, writes Barry Knott.

It is still mathematically possible to stay up but it is now very much in the hands of other sides.

Wellington play at home to third from bottom Minehead on Saturday but even a victory would not make much difference. Their only real hope is that Wellington win their last two matches and Temple Cloud and Minehead lose both their games.
