OAKE Manor Golf Club’s outgoing captain Mark Harris presented a cheque for £6,000 to Dr Chris Knight from Musgrove Park Hospital on behalf of the club’s chosen Charity the Somerset Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the club’s annual meeting.

The new club captain Richard Clist and lady captain Jane Clist had chosen for their charity The Peter Allis Wheelchair Crusade which is to raise funds to buy electrical powered wheelchairs for disabled children in the greater Taunton area.

The prizegiving followed and most notable was Jane Clist who won nine trophies including Ladies Champion.

Men’s champion was Stuart Robson, Seniors champion was Andy Gent and junior champion was Steven Blake (all pictured).

There was a very high turnout to support the Captains Drive In with Captain Richard Clist leading the way followed by Lady Captain Jane Clist, Seniors Captain Peter Taylor and Juniors Captain Andrew Blake.

Andrew led the way for distance, but although a worried look on the Captains face as Bing Crosby sang it went “straight down the middle”!

The American Greensomes Competition was won with a very respectable score of 41 points by Jon Rose and his team partner Claire Tough.
