WELLINGTON side Moortown put the woes of recent weeks behind them to gain a big 5-1 away win over Ash Rangers in the first division of the Somerset Sunday Football League.

Moortown dominated from the start with Alfie Hill scoring the first of his three goals after only three minutes. The next 20 minutes was all Moortown hitting everything but the back of the net. Time after time Rangers rode their luck before they bizarrely equalised from the penalty resulting from an incredibly soft handball decision. Somehow the score was still level at halftime.

Moortown, playing downhill in the second half, took control again and were rewarded with a lovely finish from Darren Mace. Five minutes later Alfie Hill scored again with a smart finish on the angle. Then followed the moment of the match when Moortown captain James Conway cheekily tried to chip the Rangers Keeper from full of 40 yards just to see effort hit the underside of the bar and come down on the line. Moortown were then awarded a penalty themselves which normal penalty taker James Conway sportingly handed the ball to Hill for an attempt at his hat trick. Alfie tucked the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-1. Joey Conway finished the scoring with a well taken finish five minutes from time.

Moortown are due to play away to Carhampton on Wednesday.
