WELLINGTON stormed to a big 8-0 win away to Frome in their opening game in South Division of the Western Counties Floodlit Youth League.

Wellington never won a game last season under the management of Joe Conway and Andy Govier (assistant), so this victory was reward for a lot of hard work in training during the summer.

Govier said: "We mustn't get too carried away but this win has given the lads a lot of confidence. I was especially pleased for the lads who played last season. It was tough and we didn't get any luck at all.

"It now seems all worthwhile. We could have won by double figures because we hit the woodwork three times and had number of efforts cleared off the line."

Wellington, who led 4-0 at half time, dominated play throughout with Freddie Margetts leading the spree with a hat-trick, the others coming from Ryan Corbett, Dylan Sellick, Ned Ogilvie, Dylan Groves and Sean Conway.
