WELLINGTON Squash Club's first team played away against Taunton School in the third division of the Somerset League on Monday - and won.

Barry Bartram at 1 lost 0-3, 11-15 4-15 3-15; Andrew Carpenter at 2 won 3-1, 15-10 15-13 18-20 15-13; Mike Broom at 3 lost 0-3 11-15 13-15 12-15; Tom Hendy at 4 won 3-0, 15-11 15-13 15-12 and Ed Barrett at 5 won 3-2, 15-11 15-7 14-16 7-15 18-16. The final match score was Wellington 12 Taunton 9.

The second team played at home against Kings College. David Tthorne at 1 lost 0-3, 8-15 7-15 10-15; Simon Buttars at 2 lost 1-3, 6-15 15-12 10-15 11-15; Keith Dancey at 3 won 3-1, 15-11 15-12 8-15 15-8; Peter Shaw at 4 lost 0-3, 6-15 11-15 11-15 and Gary James at 5 lost 1-3, 9-15 15-13 12-15 9-15. The final match score was Wellington 5 Kings 16. The second were short of two regular players which made a significant impact on the team and if they had played the result would almost certainly have been different.

Next monday the first team play Kings College at home and the second team are away against Wyvern 5.
