AMBER-STARR Palmer, of Wellington, was a member of the British Army women's rugby side who beat the Navy by a record score of 96-0 to retain the Babcock Cup at Twickenham.
Nine family members from Wellington were in the crowd to support her along with friends and her fiance.
A member of the family said: "It was a very proud moment to see her play at the stadium and to fulfil her dream of playing in the competition at last (she was supposed to play at Twickenham in 2020 but was prevented by Covid. Since then her job in the Army has stopped her from training very much)."
It was a particularly special day from grandparents Sue and Keith Perry who go to one of the Army v Navy games every year as her grandfather is ex-military.
The Army's big rugby victory enabled them to win the trophy for the fourth successive year.
It was a ruthless display by the Army, who showed why they are the current holders of the trophy - and the score was the highest ever in the competition.
The Army hit the ground very early on and went on to build up a 50-0 lead at the interval, never allowing their rivals a chance to cross their line.
They carried on where they left off in the second half - piling on the pressure and the points - and just missing out on topping 100 points. The Navy fought hard throughout but they were no match for their opponents.
Army flanker Laureen Brooks was awarded the Babcock Player of the Match award.
The women's Inter-Service championship title race will go down to the final game at Kingsholm Stadium, in Gloucester, where the Army will attempt to defend their title against the Royal Air Force.
But for Amber-Starr the match at Twickenham will go down as one she will always remember.
