WELLINGTON's new head coach Bradley Field is expected to include himself in the squad for the derby game at home against Tiverton in Regional Two South West on Saturday, September 13 (3p.m.).

Field played his first game at fly half in ten years in the 43-14 away loss to Okehampton last weekend and admitted: "I managed 78 minutes and felt fine afterwards."

Looking back on Wellington's defeat, Field said: "The boys are getting use to a different style of play. It's going to take time but as long as we keep improving I'm happy with that.

"We know what we need to work on in training - our defence and tackling techniques."

Okehampton have been together for a number of years; they are a very tight and good squad. Tiverton are another good side."

Tiverton, who beat Wadebridge Camels 31-27 at home in their opening game of the season, recorded a 66-10 win over Wellington at the Athletic Ground in the corresponding fixture last November. Wellington were hard hit by injuries last winter including to skipper Danny Lee, who has since retired, and his vice-captain at the time, George Hodgson, who has taken over the captaincy.

Wellington 2nd XV, who lost 31-25 at home to their Chard counterparts in their opening match in Counties Three Somerset South last weekend, are away to Wiveliscombe 2nd XV who won promotion at the end of last season..

Wiveliscombe’s first team will be looking to follow up their slender home win over Redruth Seconds when they play away to Truro in Counties Western West. The Cornish side, who were relegated at the end of last winter, lost 29-19 at Kingsbridge last weekend.

Wellington Vixens, who improved tremendously as last season went on, are home to Wiveliscombe Ladies in a cup tie on Sunday (2p.m.).
