WELLINGTON will be back in rugby action on Saturday, November 8, after an enforced break when they play away to Teignmouth in Regional Two South West (2.30p.m.).

Wellington have lost all seven of their games this season and are very much bottom of the table. Their opponents Teignmouth made a flying start to the season, winning their opening two matches, but have lost their last five games.

Head coach Bradley Field said: “Obviously, we welcomed the break. It has enabled the players to get over those niggling injuries which you pick up in matches.”

Looking back on the side’s opening results, he said: “We have lost seven first team players from last season and they have not been replaced.

“It has meant we have fielded a young and inexperienced side - and they are still learning. Defence has been a big issue. It is difficult when you haven’t got the weight up front. Sometimes when you’re losing, you try too hard.

“We didn’t have a colts side last season and, unfortunately, there were not the players coming through. Thankfully. we do have a colts side now and we will have some new youngsters coming through.”

Field, who began the season in the side, has ruled himself out against Teignmouth with a recurrence of a shoulder injury.

Weston super Mare have a 100 per cent record at the top and have an away match against North Petherton on Friday night, November 7.

Fixtures: November 7: North Petherton v Weston super Mare. Saturday: Tiverton v Crediton, Winscombe v Wadebridge Camels, Teignmouth v Welington, Ivybridge v Cullompton.

Meanwhile, Wellington 2nd XV will also be looking for their first victory of the season when they play away to Wyvern in Taunton in Counties Three Somerset South. Wyvern are fifth in the table, with a record of three wins and two losses.
