WELLINGTON’S rugby boys are up to second in the Cornwall and Devon League after gaining a splendid 32-26 away win over previous leaders Saltash over the weekend.

They are now only three points behind Penryn who moved to the top of the table after gaining a hard-earned 9-3 home victory over Honiton.

It is tight at the top with only five points separating the leading four teams with Saltash now third and Honiton remaining fourth despite their loss.

Wellington are home to Tavistock on Saturday while Penryn have a tougher match at Lanner.

Wellington coach Alan Chetland rates his side’s opening 40 minutes of rugby at Saltash as “the best half of the season.”
