WIVELISCOMBE Ladies faced a tough afternoon against a well-drilled Topsham Tempests’ side, eventually going down 65-0 in Women’s NC 2 South West.

Due to injuries and availability, some players were forced to play out of their usual positions. Topsham took full advantage - playing with pace, confidence and width to stretch the visitors’ defence.

Wiveliscombe struggled to compete at the breakdown, with Topsham able to secure quick ball and build attacking pressure. Once the hosts moved the ball wide, their outside backs proved dangerous.

However, Wiveliscombe showed moments of resolute defending, working hard to disrupt Topsham’s attacks and refusing to give up. One area where the visitors did excel was at scrum time, with their pack dominating prior to injuries forcing the scrums to go uncontested. Wiveliscombe dug deep and put bodies on the line, with some good tackles in defence.

As injuries and the deficit mounted, the task became increasingly difficult. The final score reflected Topsham’s dominance on the day.
