WELLINGTON held an 'attacking coaching session’ at the Castle Sports Centre in Taunton on Tuesday in a bid to solve their lack of goals.

“We’re getting into good positions out wide but cannot convert scoring chances,” said Wellington’s assistant player-manager Jack Porter this week.

“We played some good football leading up to half time against Nailsea & Tickenham last Saturday but still ended up losing heavily. It is very frustrating.

“The picture would have been so much different if we had gone in at half time in the lead.”

Wellington are without a first team game this weekend and manager Richard Cherry, a qualified coach, will instead be having another training session tomorrow. Wellington are not back in action in the Premier Division of the Toolastation League until they play at home in a crucial basement battle against Old Abbotonians tomorrow week.

Meanwhile Wellington Reserves, without a match last weekend, return to action tomorrow when they play at home to Newton St Cyres in the first division of the Devon & Exeter League (2.45p.m.). Wellington are currently fifth while Newton are three places below them.

Hemyock, second from bottom in Division Three, are away to AFC Orchard Bishops in the Bill See Cup.

Leaders Wellington A have a top of the table clash away to second-placed Bridgwater Wolves in the first division of the Taunton Saturday League. Wolves are four points behind their rivals with a game in hand.

Wellington Reds, third in Division Two, play sixth-placed North Petherton Reserves on the Playing Field (pitch two), with a 2.15p.m. kick-off.

Moortown, struggling near the foot of the Somerset Sunday League’s first division, are without a game this weekend.

Wellington Wildcats are home to Bishops Lydeard Ladies Reserves in Division One of the Somerset Women’s League on Sunday while Wellington Ladies entertain Pen Mill Reserves in Division Two South. Both matches are at the Playing Field and kick off at 2p.m.
