LAND Girls gained a thrilling five-pin away win over Wobbly Pins in the Wellington Ladies Skittles League on Monday night.

The Girls have a one-point lead over the champions Jolly Blues who beat Geronomo by 50 pins - and have a game in hand on the leaders.

Meanwhile, Matt Woollacott scored a last hand spare of 17 for Sociables who squeezed into the second round of the Blackdown Hills Skittles League's KO Cup by just two pins.

However, Thirsty Farmers' last player also knocked a 17 spare on the last hand but it was not enough to beat One for the Ditch who went through - also by two pins.

Black Run Bandits had no problems in going into the next round, winning by 38 pins against Brass Monkeys while Right up your Alley won by 18 pins against Floppers.

Pinpricks saw off Pitch Plate Rejects by 26 pins and Catherine Wheel were comfortable 50-pin winners against Flopper Knockers.
