RELYON have moved to joint top of Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Gerald Thorne Championship after another slip-up by title rivals Bell Green.

The Bedders maintained their fine form by beating OBA by 22 pins while Bell Green slumped by 18 pins away to Hot Shots.

Scores: OBA 334, Relyon 356: Relyon got the better of OBA at the Victoria Arms, despite a fine 55 by Denver Clarke for the home side. Rob HIggs (54) made sure Relyon kept up the pressure at the top.

Hot Shots 353, Bell Green 335: Bell Green lost for the second successive week to lowly Hot Shots who were steered to victory by Alex Govier who hit 54 as his side posted a good score. Julian Jones knocked 53 for the Bee Gees but it was not enough to avoid another loss.

Fireguard A 350, Reservists 354: Reservists scraped home by four pins with Steve Tubb being their top skittler with a solid 54, while Will Leak led the way for Fireguard A with 51.

Shooters 384, Rebels 344: Former Wellington footballer Keith Harcombe scored an excellent 58 as Shooters gained a big win over Rebels at the Victoria Inn, to stay in touch with the leaders. Baz Winter’s 47 was the best return for the Rebels.

Report Centre A 383, Oaks 350: Report Centre A hit their highest score of the season to see off the challenge of Oaks at the White Horse. John Cottrell knocked 57 for RCA while Iain Andrews was tops for Oaks with the same score.

Cottage Pies 337, Holywell Lake 350: The Lakkers moved above Pies into third spot after beating their rivals at the Cottage. Shaun Vile top scored in the match with 52 for Pies but Lee Newberry’s 51 proved crucial for the winners.

Club Rockers 344, Home Guard II 343: In a game in which every pin counted, Ken Norris scored 47 for the Rockers while Steve Symons knocked 50 for Home Guard II.

Meanwhile, Ex-Servicemen maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of the Chris Bullock Championship with another assured victory, beating WRFC by 35 pins.

Ex-Servicemen 393, WRFC 358: Geoff Hamlyn, one of Ex-Servicemen’s most consistent skittlers, top scored for his side at the Cottage with a fine 57, although the standout performance of the night came from John Lane with a splendid 59.

United Services 389, Here 4 the Beer 399: Elliott Broom and Adam Morgan both struck hands of 53 for Here 4 the Beer who squeezed home by ten pins, while Paul Fancy scored 59 for the White Horse outfit.

Nynehead Club 353, King Pins 352: Shane Powell hit an outstanding 60 for the Pins but it was not enough as Nynehead Club pipped their rivals with Lewis Sparks being their leading scorer with 51.

Mowers 387, Home Guard IV 343: Mowers maintained second place with a comfortable home win at the Football Club with Nigel Dobson leading the charge for the winners with a superb 65. Adrian Lines replied with 52 for the losers.

Outsiders 361, Scuppas 355: Just six pins separated these sides as Gerry Larcombe hit 50 for the home team and John Barker scored 52 for Scuppas.

All Stars 331, Foresters 363: Foresters continued their climb up the table - thanks to a fine 53 by Rob Morgan. All Stars’ leading scorer was Jamie Milton (47).
