RESERVISTS and Bell Green share top spot with unbeaten starts to the season in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Gerald Thorne Championship.

Reservists bounced back from their cup exit to Shooters by beating their rivals by 19 pins, while the Green also made it four wins with a 16-pin away success against Queens Legs.

Scores - Shooters 367, Reservists 386: Glen Escott hit a top of the alley 60 for Reservists who won at the Victoria Arms while Keith Harcombe was in good form for Shooters with 57.

Queens Legs 358, Bell Green 374: The Green maintained their 100 per cent start with a 16-pin win over Queens Legs on the upstairs alley of the Conservative Club. Darren Mason knocked 56 for the Legs, the highest score of the match, while Ash Colman was tops for the Bee Gees with 50.

Club Rockers 315, Holywell Lake 350: Chris Hemmings was the player of the match with 51 for Rockers, but it was not enough to prevent the Lakers from staying in touch with the leaders with Terry Dowson hitting 47 for the winners.

Cottage Pies 380, Fireguard A 320: The Pies were impressive 60-pin winners on their home alley with Rich Maslen, Shaun Vile and Paul Robinson scoring 51, while Olly Hayes top scored in the game with 53.

Home Guard II 324, Relyon 309: Home Guard II won their first match at the Football Club, beating the Bedders by 15 pins with Andy Davey knocking 44 for the winners while Steve Hayes found the dreaded pink balls to his liking, scoring 57 for the losers.

OBA 354, Oaks 349: OBA squeezed home by five pins on the upstairs alley at the Vic, scoring their first win with Rob Billet scoring 49, while Josh Navarra hit 49 for Oaks.

Hot Shots 351, Report Centre A 312: Hot Shots also gained their first win, with Alex Govier playing well for his 48 while Nick Thomas hit 45 for Report Centre A.

In the Chris Bullock Championship, Mowers made it four wins from four matches but it was a close affair against United Services with only five pins separating the sides.

Mowers 385, United Services 380: Services lost their unbeaten record at the Football Club despite a good hand of 54 by Paul Fancy. Darren Winter proved the match-winner for Mowers with a top score of 57.

Ex-Servicemen 421, Here 4 the Beer 335: Ex-Servicemen made it three wins from three matches with a big 86-pin victory at the Cottage, hitting a 400-plus hand for the second successive week. Lee Baker was the player of the match with a three-spare 74 as the champions built up a 44-pin lead at half-way. Ollie Price scored 52 for the losers.

All Stars 355, Scuppas 356: Scuppas came away from the Vic with an exciting one-pin victory - with Roger Howe hitting a fine 52 for the winners. However, All Stars’ skipper Jamie Milton top scored on the night with 53.

Foresters 396, WRFC 395: This was another match decided by only one pin with the rugby boys losing their fourth match despite a hand of 66 by Dave Huggett. Foresters’ top scorer was Greg Browne with 60.
