THE two Wellington squash teams played in the first round of the Somerset League knockout plate competition on Monday.

The first team were at home against Wyvern 2 and lost 4-1. Barry Bartram at 1 lost 15/13, 11/15, 8/15, 15/11, 11/15. James Wilkie at 2 won 15/6, 15/11, 15/4. Mike Broom at 3 lost 15/7, 8/15, 9/15, 11/15. Keith Dancey at 4 lost 15/11, 14/15, 14/15, 14/15. Tom hendy at 5 lost 11/15, 10/15, 15/8, 13/15.

The second team were away against Wyvern 4 and also suffered a 4-1 defeat. Tessa Harris at 1 lost 0-3, Simon Buttars at 2 lost 0-3, Dan keywood at 3 lost 2-3, Ellen Turner at 4 won 3-1. Ed Barrett at 5 lost 2-3.

Next week sees the start of the spring league which is now split into three smaller divisions of five teams.
