WELLINGTON Wildcats Under 11s delivered one of their best performances of the season with an outstanding display against a strong Weston Mendip side in the cup.
From the very first whistle, the Wildcats played with confidence, intensity and togetherness, pressing every ball and showing incredible work rate for one another.
Their teamwork and belief were clear to see, with every player fully committed and competing for every ball. The defence was brave and composed throughout, reading the game superbly and stepping in with some excellent, well-timed tackles.
In midfield, the battle was relentless, while the forwards worked tirelessly to apply constant pressure and create opportunities. At the back, Lily in goal was outstanding, producing a top-class performance and showing great composure under pressure.
Leading by example, Captain Eleri was exceptional and deservedly named Player of the Match, setting the standard with her determination and leadership. This was a performance full of heart, growth and resilience, showcasing just how far this team has come. There is so much to be proud of, and even more to be excited about moving forward.
However, the wet weather meant the postponement of all of Wildcats’ other matches because of the poor state of pitches.
Weather permitting, Wildcats return to league action in the Under 11 South Division on Saturday, January 24, when they play away to Shepton Mallet Sports.
Wildcats play away to Pen Mill Youth Vixens in the Under 12 Cup while Wildcats Under 14s are set to play away to Ilminster Girls in the League Cup.
Wildcats Under 15s also find themselves on their travels, playing away to Berrow Youth Girls in the first division.
Wildcats Under 16s have a home fixture - against Bishops Ldyeard Girls on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School with the kick off being at 10.30p.m.
