WELLINGTON B were involved a play-off match with Taunton Vale A to decide who would play in Division Three of the West Somerset Tennis League next year - and were successful. Having finished 5th, Wellington needed to win to remain in the division, having been promoted in 2024.
Playing away at Taunton Vale. captain Janet Dobson partnered Ben Bowley and they started off well, taking the first set 6-4. However Taunton Vale fought back and took the next set 6-1 and also won the tie-break 10-5.
Luckily, Connor Sellick and Aly Spiller had a much easier win 6-1, 6-0 in their rubber. So, at half time,Wellington had 3 sets and Taunton Vale 2.
The first sets of both the men’s and women’s double rubbers were competitive with Wellington winning both rubbers. Feeling confident, Wellington continued to dominate and did not drop another game. Both rubbers were won by Wellington 7-5, 6-0.
