WELLINGTON'S hopes of pulling off their first win of the season at fellow-strugglers Saltash in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League yestgerday (Sat) were dashed by three goals in ten minutes early in the second half, eventually going own 4-1.

Wellington had gone in a half time on level terms at 1-1 and made a double substitution for the second half, bringing on Ryan Hibbert and Ryan Brereton for Flynn Smith and Josh Lukins.

However Saltash, themselves without a win this season, scored three goals - in the 52nd, 56th and 62nd minutes.

It knocked the stuffing out of Wellington who brought on two more players midway through the second half - Rohan Poulsom and James Cottrill for Nathan Byrne and Glen Wright.

Earlier Saltash had gone ahead in the 12th minute but Wellington were back on level terms after 22 minute when Douglas Camillo, making a one-off appearance, slotted home after being set up by Byrne.

Wellington were fortunate not to fall behind again when Saltash hit the crossbar after 31 minutes.

Although Brereton and Poulsom went close to scoring towards the end, Wellington were unable to pull back the goals.

It means they have failed to win one of their opening nine games, drawing two and losing seven, and are already out of both the FA Cup and FA Vase.

They have only one more away game - at Falmouth tomorrow - before they play their first home game of what is turning out to be a tough season.
