A FORMER professional, who has played all over the world, has joined Wellington Squash and Racketball Club.
Mike Harris is a Level 3 England Squash qualified coach based in the Wellington area. He has been involved in coaching both squash and racketball at all levels for over 15 years - from junior five year old beginners, through to Professional world ranked men's and ladies players and National Junior Championship winners.
Mike is also currently responsible for the development of the Devon Junior Squash set up and has led a number of its junior teams to National Junior County titles over the years. He is involved in coaching on the England Squash Aspire South West Regional and National Junior set ups too.
Mike has also played squash and racketball to a high level. As a Junior he was ranked in the top three in England at every age group, representing the country at Under 19 level. He then played professional squash for a number of years, being fortunate enough to tour around the world, and reached a highest world ranking of 115. He is also a proficient racketball player, having now won five consecutive British National Championship titles - and is looking for his sixth this month at the championships in Birmingham.
Ever since he moved to the Wellington area it has been his goal to push squash and racketball around the local community and grow Wellington Squash Club more. He is excited to be starting sessions up at Wellington School in September and hopes to build a strong connection between the school section and the club. Keep an eye out on the Wellington squash Club Facebook page for Beginner Adult Racketball sessions and Junior Squash sessions.
