LONGTIME Wellington Rugby Club supporter Nick Keeble, 75, has died after a tragic accident while fishing in Devon.

Nick drowned while on holiday with his wife Diane who was also a regular attender of matches at the Athletic Ground.

A Wellington club spokesman said: "Nick was the father of Ted Keeble who first played for WRFC when very young in the Minis and Juniors before stepping up to play senior rugby. Ted retired through injury when Dave Simms, who has also sadly passed away, was coach.

"Nick, along with his wife, watched all of Ted’s games and they both continued to watch WRFC long after Ted stopped playing - they were at every home match last season. "WRFC held a minute's silence and flag at half mast the Saturday after the news of Nick's passing came out.

"Nick was also a long standing supporter of WRFC and will be greatly missed."

His funeral will be held at Taunton Crematorium next Thursday, November 2, when a number of members of Wellington Rugby Club will be attending (2p.m.). Donations will be given to the River Trust .
